“Give Said the Little Stream” Singing Time Ideas

A classic song with an upbeat feel to it! It’s a great choice to sing with your kids.

“Give Said the Little Stream” Counting

This is the most easy activity, ever! Ask the kids to sing the song with you. Then see if they can count how many times you sing the word “Give.” That’s it. Sing it through a few times, you can pick a few other key words if you like.

“Give Said the Little Stream” Stand/Sit Activity

You know this activity! Just have the kids stand whenever they say a key word in the song, like “Give” — and I promise your quads will be burning by the end! But the kids love this, and it makes for a good “wiggle” song.

“Give Said the Little Stream” Write Your Own Verse

This activity lets kids get creative! Discuss the meaning of the song, by asking:

“What does it mean to be giving?”

“What other things are giving that we could include in the song?”

Then have kids fill in the blanks (as seen below) while singing the song through several times. They can do this as classes or in small groups. Then take turns singing kids’ versions of the song.
