This is a classic song! Feels like we sing it very often in singing time, and that’s a wonderful thing.
“My Heavenly Father Loves Me” Shadow Puppet Cutouts
For more information about how I built my shadow puppet box, read this post. I also have shadow puppets for He Sent His Son. The visual intrigue level is very high for kids with this activity, no technology required!
These cutouts are for verses 1 and 2 of the song. You can ask the kids to watch silently (with the piano playing) while you do one round of shadow puppets, then on the second round sing the words, then third round, as them to sing with you! You can also ask them to help you figure out what some of the images have to do with the song.

Get their help to fill in the blanks! So easy.
Make Your Own Verse Printable
Someone shared this idea and I think it’s brilliant! Let the kids come up with their own version of the song with what they’re grateful for, using a worksheet. You could have them do it in small groups or alone. It’s a lot like the Fill in the Blank activity, but it’s creative and gets them thinking what they are grateful for.
